Nature Notes from Argyll
(and occasionally other places)
Thu 10 Jan 2013 Airds Bay
Willow Jelly Button, our species of the month.
Heron. A Little Grebe is also visible in the picture. There
were several of these about but I couldn't get a decent photo of any of them.
Black-headed Gulls. There were over 200 of these, far
outnumbering any other kind of gull.
Sun and mist on the slopes of Ben Cruachan
The mist played about the hills all day. These are above
Bonawe, across the water from Airds Bay.

Fri 11 Jan 2013 Oban
Best Grey Wagtail pic yet but there's a long way to go!
This is probably a first-winter bird owing to the brownish tinge to its grey
back. On the track behind the Corran Halls.
Mon 14 Jan 2013 Ganavan
Winter Polypores on Birch. A fungus that enjoys the January weather.
Fri 18 Jan 2013 Inverawe
